Hello healthy people,
I hope you are all well, and families too. They say it takes a month to develop a new habit, so I’m wondering what lockdown habits we’re currently developing. What’s your current routine like? I have to admit, I sometimes lose track of the days – where DID April go?
For me, I’m trying to walk around barefoot more. I’ve always meant to, but I get cold feet. I’ve also rediscovered the joy of Aeropress coffee. And spending more time doing less.
Working out from home is the cornerstone of Griffen Fitness and I was delighted that new website Edinburgh Lockdown Economy, published one of my favourite old-school workouts – using playing cards. Magic!
Everybody should exercise, and here’s a seated workout that can be done anytime of the day. This workout is especially good for those of a more advanced age, or with lower limb issues. Here’s the simple 15 minute YouTube chair workout filmed in the studio. For your viewing pleasure, Coco photobombs the video at 12 minutes 15 seconds.
Webcam workouts proving popular! Griffen Home Fitness now offers 30 minute 121 PT sessions using Skype, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or Google Hangouts.
Get expert fitness advice on how to build your home fitness programme safely and effectively. Avoid injury and over training, be sure your form is spot on, and get nutritional support as well. I can help you!
All sessions are 30 minutes and £20 includes your personal workout emailed to you after the session… Drop me a line to book in.
Testimonial of the Month:
“It was brilliant to have a virtual PT session with Tracy today. I felt much more positive and energised afterwards – after too many hours sitting on my sofa and at my keyboard. Everyone needs a dose of Griffen Fitness – especially when dealing with the stress of a lockdown and global pandemic, and the risk of becoming a total couch potato.” Sophie U, April 2020
Easy Recipe of the Month: Lazy Instant Cous Cous Main Course Salad
I keep a selection of various ‘instant’ foods, great for camping or lazy meals. Cous cous is really easy to make from scratch, but use flavoured cous cous for a super simple salad base.
1 packet instant cous cous, your choice of flavour
Salad stuff: chopped lettuce, tomatoes, alfalfa sprouts, or whatever you have languishing in your veg drawer.
Yummy stuff: chopped olives, sun-dried tomato, garlic, toasted pine nuts, chopped preserved lemon.
1/2 block feta cheese, cubed
Juice 1/2 lemon, or lime
Drizzle oil, or oil from sun-dried tomato jar
Chopped fresh herbs, whatever you have
– Make cous cous as per instructions, chill.
– Mix in a selection of salad stuff and optional yummy stuff, whatever you have in the fridge. Add a grind of black pepper, no salt required due to flavouring of cous cous.
– Garnish with whatever fresh herbs you have, I used chives from the allotment and parsley.
– You can make this with plain cous cous, but the flavoured stuff tastes great in a salad, and is convenient.
And Finally… Even Cuter than Coco?
Coco the fitness pug is pretty cute, but have you ever seen a hedgehog do an indoor agility course? Think Ninja Warrior for hedgehogs. This will make your day, promise – 3 minute YouTube clip
Have a happy and healthy May,
