Hello healthy people,
June is a crazy month here at Griffen Fitness HQ. For the last six months I’ve been moonlighting as Festival Coordinator for Leith Festival. Leith Festival Gala day is this weekend, Saturday 8 June on Leith Links, so pop down and say hello (there’s a Dog Show this year too). Coco, Andy and I will be leading the Leith Festival Pageant this Saturday from 12pm, so pop down and have a gander. We’ve got ‘Queens for a Day’ exhibition in the studio, celebrating the history of the Pageant, from 10am – 12pm on Saturday too.
Next Monday is my annual ‘Fitness for Cycling workshop‘, this year run as part of both Edinburgh Festival of Cycling, and Leith Festival. There’s 3 tickets left, and it’s only £10 for a 90 minute interactive workshop, with free nibbles, so drop me a line if you’d like to book in.
Testimonial of the Month
It’s a funny thing about exercise that the more you do, the more energy you feel you have. Getting started can be the tricky bit. I really like helping people catch the habit:
“Tracy gave me the kickstart I needed. She provided good support and advice and I enjoyed the weekly sessions. And there’s a Coco the pug (should you need a motivational fitness pug – which I did!) Recommended.” – Sue B, May 2019
Easy Healthy Recipe: Crunchy Chick Pea Snacks
These are so super simple I can’t believe I’ve never made them before.
Tin of drained chickpeas
(or 100g dried chickpeas, soaked overnight, cooked for an hour, then drained)
Oil for roasting
Smoked paprika, or your preferred seasoning
– Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees C.
– Dry rinsed pulses carefully with a clean tea towel.
– Toss in an oven dish with a good glug of oil, sprinkle with smoked paprika.
– Pop in the oven until well crispy, up to 30 minutes, agitating regularly.
– Cool, and try not to eat all at once.
Fad or Fab Returns: Garmin Vivosmart
Activity monitors are big business, and so I thought I should road test a Garmin for myself. Here’s the article I wrote for The Leither Magazine.
A longer newsletter next month, with an article about Multi-tasking…
Have a happy and healthy June,
