Small Business Saturday Pop-up Shop at Griffen Fitness
The fabulous furry folk at Dugs n’ Pubs are hosting their inaugural pop-up shop at the fitness studio this Saturday. So pop along between 11am – 6pm to pick up some doggie gifts, or simply to pat some dogs.

Easy Seasonal Recipe: Creamy Butter Bean and Parsnip Soup
Soup is a super easy way to use up any old vegetable matter lurking in your fridge and this recipe is rich and satisfying on a chilly day. A good thing about this recipe is that it gets zizzed at the end so you don’t need to worry with fussy chopping.
1 onion, roughly chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
2 carrots, roughly chopped
1 large parsnip, chopped
1L good quality vegetable stock
Can of butter beans, rinsed
Tbsp dried red lentils
Tbsp single cream (optional)
Tbsp olive oil
Parsley to garnish
– Simply saute onions / garlic in oil, add veg and stir around for a bit.
– Add beans / lentils and hot stock. Simmer 25 minutes.
– Cool slightly. Zizz. Enjoy muchly.
– Add optional dash of cream just before serving. The soup is a lovely sunny orange colour, full of goodness.
Insiders Tip of the Month: Get a Bodyclock
In just under three weeks it will be winter solstice. Until then the dark mornings can make some feel sluggish. Personally I couldn’t be without my Lumie Bodyclock. It’s a dawn simulator light that brightens gradually, waking you gradually and brightening up gloomy dawns. I use the basic model, more info and buy online at the Lumie website.

And Finally… Bike Belle
As a big fan of stunt cycling, I feature Scottish trail rider Danny MacAskill a lot in this newsletter. I’ve been looking for a stunning video of a female cyclist to feature, and I had to go back to 1965 to find this gem. She’s a touch more glam than Danny..
Thanks for reading my newsletter and please always feel free to email me with feedback / ideas / your favourite fitness links. We’ve managed to get this far with out mentioning the C word, so here’s a drawing of Santa doing press-ups to inspire you.
Have a happy and healthy festive season,
Tracy 🙂
